The Very Hungry Caterpillar

很饿的毛毛虫

月光下，一个小小的卵躺在叶子上。

In the light of the moon a little egg lay on a leaf.

周末的清晨，温暖的太阳升起了。

One Sunday morning the warm sun came up and — pop!

-砰！一只又小又饿的毛毛虫从卵里钻出来了。

– out of the egg came a tiny and very hungry caterpillar.

他开始寻找食物。

He started to look for some food.

周一，它吃了一个苹果，但还是很饿。

On Monday he ate through one apple，

but he was still hungry.

周二，它吃了两个梨子，但还是很饿。

On Tuesday he ate through two pears，

but he was still hungry.

周三，它吃了三颗李子，但还是很饿。

On Wednesday he ate through three plums，

but he was still hungry.

周四，他吃了四颗草莓，还是很饿。

On Thursday he ate through four strawberries，

but he was still hungry.

周五，他吃了五个橘子，还是很饿。

On Friday he ate through five oranges，

but he was still hungry.

周六，他吃了一块巧克力饼、

On Saturday he ate through one piece of chocolate cake，

一盒冰激凌、一块黄瓜、

one ice-cream cone，one pickle，

一块瑞士奶酪

one slice of Swiss cheese，

一片香肠,

one slice of salami，

一个棒棒糖,一个馅饼,

one lollipop，one piece of cherry pie，

一个香肠,一个蛋糕,

one sausage，one cupcake，

一片西瓜。

and one slice of watermelon.

到了晚上，他开始肚子疼！

That night he had a stomachache！

第二天又是周末了。

The next day was Sunday again.

这只毛毛虫吃了一片新鲜的叶子，

The caterpillar ate through one nice green leaf，

感觉好多了。

and after that he felt much better.

现在它终于不饿了——

Now he wasn’t hungry any more —

而且它也不再是一只小毛毛虫。

and he wasn’t a little caterpillar any more.

它成了一只大大的、胖胖的毛毛虫。

He was a big, fat caterpillar.

它在自己周围建造了一个小房子，叫做茧

He built a small house called a cocoon，around himself.

在里面待了超过两周。

He stayed inside for more than two weeks.

然后它把茧咬出一个洞，

Then he nibbled a hole in the cocoon，

钻了出来，然后…

pushed his way out and…

它成了一只美丽的蝴蝶！

He was a beautiful butterfly！
